What happens to the dollar?
The BRICSIA+ folks, whatever it is now, will be having a confab this month, which may be big or not depending on who you ask.
Wickedpedia doesn't have much to say, and whether the proposed
gold-backed currency will be discussed is apparently in question. They seem more interested in whether Putin will attend in person and
be arrested. Probably not but in South Africa I wouldn't count on them being able to maintain order. I suspect it will be discussed
whether it's on the agenda or not. Certainly it will take a while to get it up and running, so our digital dollars will decrease in value
at the current rate for now. What happens after that is anyone's guess.
An
observation or
two about the eventual transition for half
or more of the world to ditch the dollar suggests we have some time, but not a lot.
I know that 90% of my cash will be in metals and other safe forms by then. Most of my fellow preppers already have a lot of their
money out of dollars, but it's necessary to have a certain amount of instant liquidity, at least until the situation settles into some
reasonably stable market. At that point the gold and silver will work for most of our commerce, with conversion into dollars done
as needed for dealing with official entities. Fortunately there isn't much of that, but they'll make it ever more difficult for us to
make the conversion as needed.
Probably one more of numerous ways in which the next couple of years will interesting.
